1. High temperature resistance. The softening point temperature of quartz glass is about 1730℃, which can be used for a long time at 1150℃, and the maximum temperature for a short time can reach 1450℃.
2. Corrosion resistance. In addition to hydrofluoric acid, high-purity quartz almost no chemical reaction with other acids, at high temperatures, it can resist sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, aqua regia, neutral salts, carbon and sulfur and other erosion. Its acid resistance is 30 times that of ceramics, 150 times that of stainless steel, especially the chemical stability at high temperatures, is incomparable to any other engineering materials.
3. Good thermal stability. The coefficient of thermal expansion of high purity quartz is extremely small, can withstand intense temperature changes, the high purity quartz heated to about 1100 ℃, into the room temperature water will not blow up.
4. Good light transmission performance. High-purity quartz in the ultraviolet to infrared light throughout the spectral band have good light transmission properties, visible light transmission rate of more than 93%, especially in the ultraviolet spectral region, ~ large transmittance of up to 80% or more.
5. Good electrical insulation properties. The resistance value of high purity quartz is equivalent to 10,000 times that of ordinary quartz glass, which is an excellent electrical insulating material, even at high temperatures also has good electrical properties.
Application
Electronics industry: Quartz rings are widely used in semiconductor ceramics, such as sealing rings for thyristors. In addition, quartz rings are also widely used in seals and connectors of electronic components. Because of the corrosion resistance of quartz rings at high temperatures, they are widely used in the encapsulation of electronic materials such as aluminium nitride and silicon carbide.
Aerospace industry: Quartz rings are widely used as seals and gaskets for high-temperature components such as turbines and aircraft engines. In aerospace equipment, quartz rings are widely used in heat probes, thermopiles and sensors in spacecraft to ensure that the spacecraft can operate properly in extreme high temperature environments. At the same time, quartz rings are also used as radiation protection screens and thermal protection materials.
Biomedical industry: Quartz rings are mainly used to make microfluidic chips. Quartz rings have good compatibility between organisms and chips, so they can be used to make microchannels and reaction cells for microfluidic chips. In addition, quartz rings are also used as an anode electron transport medium in the separation and analysis of biological samples.
Optical instrument industry: Quartz rings are mainly used in lasers, fibre optic communications, optical measurements and other fields. In lasers and fibre optic communications, quartz rings are mainly used as substrates for optical components such as waveguides, couplers and tuners. In optical measurements, quartz rings are used as optical path stabilisers and mirrors.
